Steve Wolfson has proudly called Las Vegas home for more than 45 years. Today, he serves as Clark County’s top prosecutor, leading the largest and busiest law firm in Nevada. The District Attorney’s Office employs nearly 800 dedicated professionals, including 200 Deputy District Attorneys attorneys, who collectively handle close to 140,000 cases each year.

Steve Wolfson began his legal career inside the District Attorney’s office, where he served as a Deputy District Attorney handling tough cases on behalf of the community. Those early years gave him firsthand experience in prosecuting crimes, working with victims, and understanding the balance between justice and fairness. That foundation continues to guide his leadership today.

After serving as a prosecutor, Wolfson spent more than 25 years in private practice as a criminal defense lawyer. Representing individuals from all walks of life gave him a unique perspective on how the justice system impacts everyday people. This dual experience — both prosecuting and defending — has shaped his commitment to fairness, accountability, and equal justice under the law.

With a career spanning more than four decades, Steve Wolfson has worked on both sides of the courtroom — first as a young Deputy District Attorney and later as a seasoned defense attorney in private practice. That balance of perspectives has made him a District Attorney who not only understands the law, but also the lives behind every case. It’s this depth of experience that sets him apart as a leader for Clark County.

Leadership as District Attorney

In 2012, the Clark County Commission appointed Steve Wolfson as District Attorney. Two years later, he was elected by the people of Clark County to continue in that role—and has since been re-elected in 2018 and 2022. His current term runs through December 2026.

Throughout his career, District Attorney Wolfson has been guided by a commitment to justice, fairness, and the safety of Southern Nevada families. His leadership has strengthened the office’s ability to serve victims, protect communities, and uphold the law with integrity.
